Guided walks & events in the Brecon Beacons Summer 2012
This Summer there are some great great guided walks
and events happening through out the school holidays.
Family Fun Day on August 12th - 12 noon -
Star gazing event - Sunday 12th August
7.30-11.00pm. Come and view one of Nature’s finest shows: the
Perseid meteor shower, live from the dark skies above the National Park Visitor Centre, Libanus, LD3 8ER. Guest speaker Chris North from BBC’s Sky at
Night will be on hand to de-mystify the universe and answer questions.
Experts from Dark Sky Wales will be on hand to help you explore the heavens in their portable planetarium, view the shower by telescope, or just lie
back on the lawns and enjoy the spectacle!
'Brecon Town Past & Present' - a Family Friendly walk on
16th, 23rd & 30th August
On 14th & 28th August there is 'Walk, Talk and
Tea' an easy 1.5 mile family friendly walk that includes a mysterious spiritual centre, an industrial site, a final resting place, preparing for
war, an unsolved mystery and a little known wonder. Followed by a delicious Cream Tea at the Centre for £3.20 per person
On 25th & 28th August try the Pen y Fan Circular
Enjoy great views on this 4½ mile energetic walk to the summit of the highest mountain in southern Britain. Step back in time to the Bronze Age and
visit the site of the obelisk raised to tragic Tommy Jones.
