Singer-songwriter and ‘cult folk-pop troubadour’ Alex Valentine brings his unique sound to Glasbury with a set that will showcase his distinctive
hook laden tracks with their intelligent lyrics.
Valentine’s most recent CD, A Short Album About Love, explores love in all its forms - from the summery love of Golden Valley Girl to the addictive
nature of love in Hurricane, a huge video hit on YouTube this year.
“It is a record of tautly written, grown-up folkish pop songs, arranged with a minimum of fuss and performed with a great deal of heart,” says Alex of
the new album, the follow-up to 2007’s critically acclaimed Tardis Heart. “Time is precious, now more than ever,” says Alex, explaining the brevity of
the new album. “It is just 32-and-a-half minutes long, an exercise in minimalism. It’s about leaving the listener wanting more”.
“The voice of an angel, the lyrical talent of Paul Simon and the ability to reduce audiences to tears.” Mariella Frostrup of BSkyB Arts and Radio
4.
“His lyrics are just fantastic and he has a really interesting sound and vocal quality”. Orlando Bloom
