Directory - Llandovery, Llandeilo & the west of the National Park
The western Brecon Beacons feature the contrasting beauty of the rugged, wild Black Mountain and the gentler vistas of the upper Towy valley. The area
is part of the Fforest Fawr Geopark.
Llandovery is a market town on the western edge of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The town is a good base for walkers and all those who appreciate
the countryside. A mapped walk around the town has recently been re-launched and offers a charming introduction to it's history and community.
The Heritage Centre, castle ruins and the site of the original Black Ox Bank are located in the centre of the town.
Llandovery also hosts one of the 30 stations where you can join the Heart of Wales Railway Line.
Further west there is the drama of Carreg Cennen - one of the most spectacularly sited Welsh castles and Dinefwr Park with the newly restored Newton
House.
Llandeilo on the furthest boundary of the National Park still retains its old world atmosphere with its narrow streets and attractive historic
buildings, now combined with distinctive shops and places to eat.
